Guide To Waco

1.     Places to Eat – Restaurants

Café Homestead - Great tasting, sustainable, natural meals in the most enjoyable restaurant in Waco.

Magnolia Table - A breakfast and lunch restaurant specializing in fresh, homegrown ingredients and good old fashioned cooking. We have something on our menu for everyone, including the kiddos, vegetarians, vegans, and folks with a gluten intolerance.

Much of the produce used in our dishes is grown locally at Joanna’s farm garden, and many of our eggs come from her chickens, too! We also love using local vendors for menu staples like our grass-fed hamburger patties and freshly-squeezed lemonade.

Alpha Omega - Mediterranean Grill and Bakery focused on using fresh ingredients to create amazing dishes.

Common Grounds serves responsibly sourced and carefully roasted coffees from all over the world.

Bangkok Royal - Waco's premiere Thai food restaurant offers top notch cuisine in an elegant setting ideal for anything from take out to a casual lunch to formal celebratory dinners.

Chuy’s - We don't take anything seriously, except our food. While we refer to our food as “Tex-Mex”, our menu is made up of a combination of flavors, with recipes and ingredients from across New Mexico, Mexican border towns, the Rio Grande Valley, deep South Texas, Austin and beyond.

Waco’s Food Trucks - If food trucks are your thing, Waco has them sprinkled here and there and they’re an especially great option when the weather calls for al fresco dining.

Katie’s Frozen Custard - A family owned business started right here in Waco in June 2002 and has been serving their fresh made frozen custard ever since. There is only one Katie’s!

Sub Zero Nitrogen Ice Cream - Sub Zero flash freezes each custom-mixed order with liquid nitrogen. Customers choose from a variety of cream bases and mix-ins to create an infinite number of flavor combinations. Flash freezing makes for a smoother, creamier product than traditional ice cream because the water doesn’t form large ice crystals.

3.     Places to See – Museums & Sights

Waco Mammoth National Monument - The five-acre Waco Mammoth National Monument sits within 100+ acres of wooded parkland along the Bosque River. Surrounded by oak, mesquite and cedar trees, the site offers an escape from the modern world and provides a glimpse into the lives of Columbian mammoths.

"The nation's first and only recorded discovery of a nursery herd of Pleistocene mammoths" - National Park Service

The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum - The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum is located on the banks of the Brazos River, proudly sponsored by the City of Waco and sanctioned by the State of Texas. We preserve the history and inspire appreciation of the Texas Rangers, a legendary symbol of Texas and the American West.

Mayborn Museum Complex brings together, in one location, the resources of hands-on discovery rooms and interactive natural science and cultural history galleries, including outdoor exhibits. This rich combination provides a wide spectrum of engaging learning opportunities for learners and visitors of all ages.

Dr Pepper Museum - The Dr Pepper Museum and Free Enterprise Institute is dedicated to being the finest museum in the world devoted to telling the story of the soft drink industry and to using this industry as a practical model of the free enterprise system.

Waco Suspension Bridge & Riverwalk Area - The historic Suspension Bridge was completed in 1870 and remains a legendary icon of downtown Waco. For years, the bridge served as a Chisholm Trail crossing, and at the time of its completion, it was the longest single-span suspension bridge west of the Mississippi. The bridge was built with cable supplied by the John Roebling Co., who built the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City.

Cameron Park Zoo - UNPLUG those video games and connect with colorful creatures. How about an oasis of natural wonder. Slide through acrobatic otters floating around you. Look nose to nose with a lion named Kai. Stand a glass-pane away from gliding clownfish and craggy Komodo dragons. Hear bats flutter, get soaked by a practical-joking orangutan. Come on! Unplug, drop the digital, and connect your kids to a real-life adventure at Waco's 52-acre Natural Habitat Cameron Park Zoo along the Brazos River.
